"Customer service is just the worst!"
The support from this company is downright awful! I made the choice to change my home insurance providers, and there was a one-day gap between my old policy ending and the new one kicking in. I sent them a copy of the new policy, but they keep claiming I was without coverage for that single day, which was ages ago. Now, they’ve gone ahead and set up an escrow account, demanding I fork over cash for overlapping and pricey home insurance, even though I’m already covered!
On top of that, the policy that protects the structure with our homeowners association is still active and hasn’t changed a bit. I’ve wasted so many hours on the phone with them and have also reached out through their website, but that escrow account is still hanging around. Just so you know, my loan got sold to them, and I’m stuck in this mess.

"Help from AssetRecoup.com"
They held back my payments and wouldn’t give my cash back. They kept telling me to hang tight, but in the end, they just stopped responding altogether. I figured it was time to do something about it and reported them.
"Customer service experience was truly terrible."
About a year back, they took over my mortgage from a different lender, and let me tell you, it’s been a total mess since then. Six months ago, they didn’t make the payment for my property taxes after sending back the extra cash from my escrow account. Because of that, I had to deal with a late property tax payment and ended up paying both the overdue taxes and a penalty. I’ve tried multiple times to fix this with their escrow and tax department, and even asked for a refund for the penalty I had to pay because of their mistake. But all I got was a headache—endless phone trees, being passed around from one department to another, getting hung up on, and my faxes going missing. It feels like this frustrating loop will never end, and the issue is still not sorted out. I’m seriously thinking about taking legal steps to get back the penalty I shouldn’t have had to pay. Having worked with a few mortgage companies before, I can say without a doubt that Freedom is the absolute worst. If you can, steer clear of them.

"Avoid Freedom Mortgage at All Costs"
I really can't recommend Freedom Mortgage. I went with them for my first home purchase, and their website was a total pain to use when I needed to find important tax docs. Plus, when I had questions about my loan, it took them ages to get back to me.
Recently, I had to deal with a loan assumption where my brother-in-law was taking over our existing loan. Let me tell you, it was a complete disaster. We started the paperwork in early January and didn’t wrap it up until late June 2023! Freedom Mortgage dropped the ball so many times. They said they didn’t get certain documents, even though we had fax confirmations for everything. They also set super tight deadlines for us to send in required papers but took their sweet time getting back to us.
We ended up closing on the loan assumption weeks after their final deadline, and it wasn’t because we were slow with our paperwork. We kept getting the runaround about who was in charge of what on their side. They’d transfer us to different departments and then say the person we needed was out of the office, without giving us a heads-up. We often got no replies when we asked questions or sent in documents, and we even had to suggest bringing in a loan attorney just to get a response.
Honestly, I can't say anything good about this company. They are a mess, unresponsive, and showed no understanding of our situation (the whole process took a ridiculous 6 months). They did very little to speed up any part of the loan assumption. I really can't recommend Freedom Mortgage.
"My mortgage experience with Rocket and Freedom Mortgage"
I kicked off my mortgage journey with Rocket, but they later handed it over to Freedom Mortgage. When I sold my home, I was really hoping Freedom would give me a good interest rate. Unfortunately, their rep, 'Mac,' treated me like I was just some random person. The emails I got from him were downright rude and unprofessional. Instead of feeling like they wanted my business, it felt more like I was the one trying to win them over. All in all, it was a terrible experience.

"Payments Being Held by Freedom Mortgage..."
Freedom Mortgage is currently holding onto my payments and notifying the credit bureaus that I'm behind. Luckily, I pay through my bank, so I've got proof of when the payments were made and that they went through just fine. The folks in customer service tell me this is just how they do things and promise that any errors on their part will be fixed once this 'process' wraps up. But my credit score has already taken a hit, and now I’m stuck waiting for them to sort it out. I've never dealt with anything like this before.

"Deceptive Practices"
The support from Freedom is downright ridiculous. I've faced long waits with no real answers. If you’ve got other options for getting a mortgage, I highly recommend avoiding Freedom. Being an Active Duty Service Member, I really wish I had gone with USAA instead.

"Beware of Freedom Mortgage's Tactics"
Freedom Mortgage operates in a pretty shady manner. They always seem to push customers to refinance at the slightest dip in interest rates. But honestly, this often ends up costing folks more on their loans than they actually save in monthly payments. In my situation, I found out I was overpaying my taxes by $200 each month. They tried to sneak that info in, saying refinancing would save me that amount monthly, even though I’d get a refund for any extra taxes at year’s end. I reached out to them asking for a $200 cut in my mortgage payments because of the tax overpayment, but they wouldn’t budge unless I refinanced. So now, I’m stuck paying an extra $200 every month and have to wait until the year wraps up to get back $2,000. I really recommend steering clear of this company.
"This company is truly awful and will try to mislead and exploit you."
We've been with this mortgage provider for over five years. Lately, the taxable value of our home went up. But, Freedom didn’t bother to let us know and instead sought to hold onto two months' worth of our payments because of a minor shortfall. Besides trying to take our payment money, they also slapped on a bunch of fees. This company is not trustworthy, and I highly recommend steering clear of them at all costs.

"Going digital? You might wanna think twice..."
I really recommend steering clear of digital services, 'cause chances are you won't get an updated statement that shows changes due to not having enough escrow funds. Even if you pick the digital route, don’t count on getting statements straight to your email via their platform. I've been keeping an eye on this every month. If you keep making payments based on what you think you owe, they won’t reach out until 3-4 months down the line when your account is a total mess, and it can hurt your credit score. I'm planning to get in touch with the VA about this, hoping they can help us sort it out. They might even think about dropping them as an approved VA lender.

"Customer Service is Nonexistent"
I've been handling my mortgage payments online with Freedom Mortgage for a good few years. But this past weekend has been a real headache since I couldn't make a payment on their website. Even though I entered my email and password correctly, the site keeps saying they're wrong. It's odd because I had no trouble making a payment just last month. I even tried the 'forgot password' and 'forgot email' features, but the site insists that my last name and social security number are also incorrect, which I know isn't true. On top of that, their automated phone system for mortgage payments isn't working right either. Now, I'm staring down the barrel of a potential 30-day late payment all because of Freedom Mortgage's glitchy systems. It's also super frustrating that I can't talk to a rep after 2 PM on Saturdays. When you run into a problem like this, it feels like there's no help in sight. It's really disappointing that the online platform and phone payment options from Freedom Mortgage are putting me at risk for a late payment.

"This might be the worst review I've ever come across."
This has to be the most awful experience I've encountered. They bought my property from Rocket, and it’s been a total mess ever since. Not only did they miss the deadline for paying my taxes to LA County (I had to catch it myself after getting a delinquency notice), but they also botched an escrow analysis and wouldn’t give me straightforward answers for WEEKS. And to make matters worse, they had the nerve to keep pestering me about refinancing. Honestly, I’d happily fork over an extra 50 bps just to refinance with a different company and get away from them. I never wanted to deal with them in the first place, and that hasn’t changed. Oh, and let’s not overlook their awful website. If you can help it, steer clear of them. Sadly, I didn’t have that luxury.

"My Experience with Freedom Mortgage Was a Letdown"
I had worked with Freedom before on a mortgage and it went well. But in 2023, my experience took a nosedive when I tried to apply for a new loan.
Their online system was a mess, and instead of fixing it, they kept pushing me to email my personal documents. I voiced my worries, but the rep kept saying their portal was secure, ignoring my concerns about Gmail not being safe in my eyes. Even when I brought it up to a supervisor, I got the same useless reply.
I asked for a loan estimate multiple times, but it never came through. The agent kept telling me to get a quote from another lender, saying they’d match or beat it. I made it clear that I wanted Freedom's best offer, not just something cheaper than the competition. After going back and forth like this for ages, the rep suddenly shut down my application without any heads-up.
I've made up my mind not to do business with them again.

"This mortgage company is truly awful."
This mortgage company is honestly the worst! They took over my mortgage from Amerisave and have been giving me financial headaches ever since. Even though I provided insurance via USPS, fax, and email, the harassment just keeps going. I've spent countless hours on hold and sent a ton of emails and faxes, but they still add escrow charges for insurance to my monthly bill without any heads-up about their so-called plan to refund these bogus payments. I really recommend steering clear of getting a mortgage with these folks because they are totally incompetent and dishonest. I’ve got no issues with the reps I talked to, but the company overall is just a total mess.

"This place is just the worst!"
Getting in touch with the customer service team is a real hassle. They come off as disinterested and don’t seem to do much to help, not even the basics. You often find yourself on hold for ages, and they just don’t call you back, making you have to ring them up again and explain everything from scratch. It’s clear they don’t show much respect for customer concerns and aren’t keen on sorting things out.
